Port Noarlunga Drowning: Child Bied While Swimming on Family Pool

Child Dies After Backyard Pool Incident in Adelaide’s South

ADELAIDE — A child has died following a backyard swimming pool incident at a family home in Adelaide’s southern suburbs.

Emergency services were called to a property on Dyson Road in Port Noarlunga after reports of a child drowning in a residential swimming pool. Police and paramedics responded to the scene, where a child was located in the pool and removed by first responders.

The child was transported in a critical condition to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, where they later died despite medical efforts.

South Australian Police confirmed they attended the address following reports of a swimming accident. The incident is being treated as non-suspicious at this stage, and investigators are working to establish the circumstances that led to the child entering the pool.

Authorities have not released the child’s age or further identifying details. A report will be prepared for the Coroner, as is standard procedure for sudden deaths.

The tragedy has prompted renewed reminders from emergency services about the importance of constant supervision around swimming pools, particularly for young children, and ensuring pool safety measures such as fencing and secure gates are in place.

Support services are understood to be assisting the family as investigations continue.
