Port Hope, Ontario — The Port Hope community is grieving the loss of Kaitlin Newton, a beloved mother, professional, athlete, and mentor whose death has left a deep and lasting impact on family, friends, colleagues, and all who knew her.

Newton, who was from Port Hope, was the devoted mother of three daughters, whom friends say were the center of her world. Those closest to her describe her as a fiercely loving and nurturing parent who balanced her family life with a deep commitment to serving others.

She worked as a Life Enrichment Coordinator at Centennial Place Long Term Care Home, where she was known for her compassion, creativity, and dedication to enhancing the lives of residents. Her work focused on building meaningful connections and bringing joy and purpose to those in her care.

Beyond her work in long-term care, Newton made a significant impact in education, athletics, and health care. She was a former women’s rugby coach at Fleming College and a past intern at Northumberland Hills Hospital, reflecting her passion for leadership, wellness, and community service.

A graduate of Fleming College and Trent University, Newton was also an accomplished athlete. She was a three-time Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Russell Division All-Star, earning recognition for her skill, determination, and leadership on the rugby field. Teammates and coaches remember her as a fierce competitor with an equally generous heart.
