North Carolina State Trooper Jason R. Vindich Dies Following Off-Duty Accident

Surry County, NC — Master Trooper Jason R. Vindich, a veteran member of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol assigned to Troop E, District 5 in Surry County, died Sunday after sustaining injuries in an off-duty accident at his home, authorities confirmed.

Vindich, 50, was at his residence when the accident occurred. Medical personnel responded to the scene and provided emergency aid, but despite their efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries. Officials stated that the incident was not related to the winter weather conditions experienced across the region over the weekend.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol said Vindich’s passing has had a profound impact on his family, fellow troopers in Troop E, District 5, and members of the Highway Patrol statewide.

Colonel Freddy L. Johnson Jr. released a statement expressing condolences and calling for support for those affected by the loss.
